  • After Brian wrestled this ono to the boat with a WaayCool 331-100-25 deepsea handline, the first mate Somwang shows his skill in bringing the fish on board with a smooth landing directly into the cooler.
  • Calm conditions and a beautiful day at Wake Island makes for a great day of fishing. Chris works with the first mate to pull this good size wahoo into the boat.
  • This double strike handline action resulted in two frisky mahi mahi coming on board at the same time.
  • Big John from Wake Island pulled in this sweet yellowfin tuna using a WaayCool 331-100ft-25ft deep sea handline. First mate Somwang continues to show us how its done by landing the fish directly into the cooler.
  • If you ever get a chance to fish at Wake Island, don't pass it up. Robert didn't - and he's looking at the results of two hours of Wake Island fishing as he helps land this wahoo.
  • Always give your handlines and shock absorbers a good fresh water rinse at the end of the day to wash off the saltwater and any fish slime and blood. Note that I prefer to use a loop of nylon rope on one end of the shock absorber in lieu of the carabiner.
  • Antone helps with the cooler while Joe works the handline in concert with the first mate Somwang to land this 50+ pound wahoo. Nice work by all. Fin burgers anyone?
  • Joe and Mark show excellent form during this double strike handline action. Note how they have their feet positioned to keep balance while pulling in a strong fish and compensating for boat motion. And how they are keeping the handline from scrapping on the transom which could damage it. Lastly - they have good personal protective equipment - closed toed shoes and gloves.
  • Mark, the owner of WaayCool Handlines, gets in the action while handlining this large ono (see the splash in the distance) at Wake Island. Cool shirt, eh? Courtesy of his number one retail customer, POP Fishing and Marine in Honolulu. Thanks Kevin, Bryce, and Shane!
  • Fish On! Robert heads over to grab the handline - note the shock absorber stretched out - always a good sign! Remember to place the loop in the rope for the shock absorber attach point at a little less than the maximum stretch - that will protect the shock absorber from damage.
  • Jeff works a fish on the handline near the boat.
  • When Matt contacted us for another WaayCool product, we asked Matt how the fishing was these days on Roi-Namur. Matt's response: "Fishing is still good. Just this weekend we caught a 112 pound yellow-fin on one of your handlines."
  • Jason tried his new Kayak-75 handline and sent us the following report: "Used the handline in the San Juans a couple of weeks ago and slammed greenling, lingcod, and rockfish!....over 100 fish in about 3 hours of fishing."
  • Fishing was excellent for this half day tournament where we landed 16 fish, most of them on the handlines, including the 22 lb Ahi that took the $650 tuna category.
  • Mark handles a frisky Mahi with appropriate caution.
  • Jason Self from Alder Creek Kayak & Canoe shows how it's done by landing a 20 lb lingcod off of the west side of Orcas Island, while guiding a multi-day kayak fishing tour. He caught it with a WaayCool Kayak-75 handline while jigging a 4oz with a lime green 8" split tail and white octopus legs. Photo by Chris Bensch.
  • Mark brings in a nice Wahoo on the handline.
  • Greg shows off a big Wahoo caught with his WaayCool handline on a T-AGOS ship west of Kauai, Hawaii.
  • Rob catches a ling cod with his WaayCool kayak handline while jigging near Brooks Peninsula, British Columbia.
  • Combine a WaayCool kayak handline with a CFS Stinger lure and a skilled fisherman like Steve - and what will you get? A beauty of a king salmon!
  • Yoshi shows fine form with the handlines in getting the Mahi on board.
  • All 17 Aku (skipjack tuna) were caught on the handlines.
  • Five of these seven Mahi were caught on the handlines.
  • Two native islanders from Lib Island came aboard and showed us how to really fish with handlines - 101 fish on board that day, 62 were Ahi.
  • Results of another fine day of fishing at Lib island.
  • Mike has his WaayCool handlines rigged and ready for bluewater action on his next trip to Nell Island, Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Note the handline running underneath the line from the rod. The rod has the lure out further than the handline so the lines won't tangle on turns.
  • Bryan landed this Coho salmon while using his WaayCool Kayak handline on Lake Superior near Grand Marais, MN. He was trolling from his kayak about 3/4 mile off-shore in 80 to 90 feet of water and using a dispy diver to get the lure down to 20 or 30 feet.
  • Good: Rick shows good form in bringing in another Aku with his WaayCool dyneema handline. Bad: Where are the gloves? You should always wear gloves when handline fishing.
  • Capt. Dave and Tristen at Nell Island with Kilo-40.
  • Fish in the cooler - note the handline in the background!
  • Jeff gets a big eye Ahi in the boat. Many sharks in this school caused us to use handlines exclusively to 'beat the shark'.
  • Two coolers full, many caught on the handlines.
  • Wise and Capt. Dave after a great day of fishing.
  • Two nice, plump Ahi ready for cleaning.
  • Doug, Mark, and Rick had a very dull day until 30 seconds before pulling in the lines!
  • Capt. Dave and First Mate Mark with a nice dog tooth tuna
  • Ahi on ice - it doesn't get much better.
  • Joe, Rick, Jeff, Yoshi, and Tom with Joe's birthday present!
  • A nice 350# Pacific blue at the Kwajalein small boat marina.
  • The Boy Scouts catch a nice Wahoo on the way back from camping on Omelek island where SpaceX now launches commercial rockets.
  • Dave & Dave haul in a nice large dogtooth - hmm - it won't fit in the cooler. What to do?
  • No problem! (We think they might benefit from some counseling.)
  • Mark, Rick, Mark, and Joe had a great half-day of tuna fishing.
  • Love that golden view of a nice Ahi in blue water.
  • Beth, Rick, Bob, and Mark had a good half day of fishing.
  • Erica actually went fishing - and what a catch!
  • A mile south of Kwajalein island with a 400# Pacific blue marlin at the other end of the line.
  • Mark, Rick, Ethan, and Steve show off a nice catch.
  • Bob, Tim, and Claire cleaning a Wahoo (Ono).
  • Rick, Bob, and Bob with some nice Wahoo (one slightly shark bit) and a stinky barracuda.
  • Phil shows off a pink salmon he caught trolling with his WaayCool handline while paddling from Gig Harbor, Washington, through the islands of British Columbia, and ending in Glacier Bay, Alaska - a 111 day and 1,200 mile journey!
  • Zach caught this blackfin within just a few minutes of putting the handlines out in the canyons off NY on a "green machine" behind a bright pink bird.
